Shantel Thomas, Ph. D.  PCC-S, LSW is President and CEO of A Sound Mind Counseling Service, LLC. She received her B.A., M. Ed. from the University of Toledo where she attended on a full athletic scholarship and had a stellar career as a sprinter, traveling the world competing and receiving various honors, including MAC Athlete of the Year and NCAA Woman of the Year for Ohio. Her doctorate is from Kent State University.

 

Thomas was inducted into the University of Toledo’s Hall of Fame and selected as one of Cincinnati’s Leading Women. She was a Health Care Hero and Athena Awards finalist in 2006. She was also honored in Who’s Who of Black Cincinnati in 2009 and 2007. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a life member of the Ohio Counseling Association.

Shawnta Brent, PCC is a Professional Clinical Counselor of A Sound Mind Counseling Service. Mrs. Brent received her Bachelors of Arts and Science from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a dual degree in Psychology/Social Work and her Masters in Agency Community Counseling from Xavier University. She has been in the field for over 13 years. Mrs. Brent has experience working with diverse backgrounds with mental health issues and other daily stressors. Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to  Individual Counseling, Relationship Issues, Depression/Anxiety, Personal and Social Issues and Stress Management.

Tomica Chitterson, MA, PCC-S is a Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC). She received her Masters in Community and School Counseling from Xavier University. Ms. Chitterson has worked with a diverse clientele including individuals of varied ages, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has over a decade of experience in the field of social services/mental health and is available to work with individuals with a wide range of needs.   Some of her clinical experience has included working with high-risk youths and their families, individuals who have been impacted by sexual and/or domestic violence, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and women’s issues.

Monica Hayden, MSSW, LISW is an independent licensed social worker supervisor. She received her AA degree from St. Catherine College, her BSSW degree from Spalding University, and her MSSW from University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. She has been in the mental health field for over 20 years. Ms. Hayden has experience working with diverse backgrounds with mental health issues and other daily stressors. Her areas include but not limited to adolescents age 14 and above, Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Relationship Issues, Depression/Anxiety, Personal and Social Issues and Stress Management.

Kimberely Johnson, MA, PCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She received her BA from Wittenberg University and an MA from Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio. Ms Johnson has experience working with children, adolescents and families. She has 18 years experience working with at-risk populations. She is the mother of two children and a native of Cincinnati Ohio.

Rosalind Jones, LISW-S, LICDC is a Licensed Independent Social Worker –Supervisor. She has been in the mental health/substance abuse field for over 10 years. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice, Masters of Social Work and Certificate in Addiction Studies from The University of Cincinnati. Rosalind is also a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. Her clinical experience includes working with high-risk youths and their families, facilitating Alcohol/ Drug Education and Therapy groups, Assessment, Diagnoses and Treatment of Alcohol/ Drug dependency. She has experience in working with populations of diverse backgrounds and has worked in the criminal justice system. Rosalind is

trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to working with adolescents, managing depression, anxiety and alcohol/ drug addiction.

Kimberly Youngblood, LCDCIII, ICADC has worked in the field of addictions for 25 years. Kimberly has a passion to assist individuals with personal addictions by providing them with coping skills to live a healthy and addictive free lifestyle. Kimberly holds a Masters in Counsellings studies  with a focus on Addictions from the University of Cincinnati. She is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDCIII). She is also an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (OCDPB). Kimberly also has experience in American Sign Language and volunteers these services at her local church.

Eleanor Bolar, Ph.D., LISW-S, LICDC Is a licensed independent social work supervisor and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor. She obtained her Doctorate of Philosophy, Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Cincinnati.  She has over 10 years of experience. Dr. Bolar is passionate to help individuals move beyond limitations to achieve a healthy and balanced life. She works well with diverse populations.  Her areas of interest are individual therapy, group therapy, depression, post-divorce recovery, self-esteem, crisis intervention, women's issues, stress management, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss.  Her approach to therapy is holistic.  She is available evenings and Saturdays

Kendra Mapp, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She received her Master's degree from Xavier University; Cincinnati, Ohio in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She has eight years of experience in education and currently works with at-risk high school students. Ms. Mapp works from an eclectic theoretical framework; encompassing Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and reality Therapy to name a few. She has received training in Deep Presence Therapy/Mindfulness, Multisystemic Marriage and Family Counseling and Trauma & Dissociation. She has great interest in providing holistic counseling to adolescents, women, men and families in individual and group settings.

Leigh Ann, LPC is a licensed professional counselor at A Sound Mind Counseling Service. She's received her Masters from Cincinnati Christian University  in Mental Health Counseling.

 

She has experience facilitating AoD psychoeducational and therapy groups for men, women and adolescent population. Her specialty and certification is in addictions. Her other interest include anxiety, depression, grief & loss, trauma, anger and stress management and behavioral issues such as ADHD.

Neresa Giles, LPCC is a professional clinical counselor who received her Master's Degree in community Couseling from Xavier University. She has worked in the field for over 10 years with experience that includes but is not limited to depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ADHA and stress management. Mrs. Giles has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personal and social issues.

Kim Singh is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor.  She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University.  While at Xavier, she was awarded the minority scholarship from the National Board of Certified Counselors for excellence in work with minority populations.  Her passions include diversity education and women's empowerment.  Kim's clinical experience and interest includes, but is not limited to, working with adolescents and adults 12 and up with a myriad of concerns. She specializes in depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, stress management, adjustment issues, relationship counseling and women's issues.
